Flying fish

 Subject: Flying Fish

Where: The Caribbean

When: First sighting, May 2023

Description: The Flying Fish has evolved to have fins capable of holding it in the air, gliding for up to 45 seconds. This behavior is most likely used for escaping predators from the sea but leaves the fish vulnerable to flying predators.

Interesting Fact: There is a missile named the Exocet (the French word for flying fish) Missile that is named after the fish due to its similar flight patterns.

Observations: They use their tail to propel out of the water, as seen in the picture, and I've seen them slightly dipping it back in to get a little more distance.
