Sargassum

 Subject: Sargassum

Where: Everywhere

When: All the time

Description: Sargassum is a type of seaweed that is part of the Phaeophyceae class. The seaweed mats have been called rainforests of the sea because of the large amounts of sea life living under or around them. Its free floating nature can also cause it to be a nuisance to many boaters.

Interesting Fact: There was a story of sargassum covering the entirety of the Sargasso sea but this was found to be a rumor and the it is only found in large chunks.

Personal Note: The large amounts can be quite annoying to try to drive or swim around.
